How to Log onto mIRC


1) First, get the program and install it.

- Click Here to Download the latest Mirc Version 6.16
- Install it and then RUN mIRC.


2) Connect to the correct server and what not...

When you run the program, after installation... it should look like this.


- Put in a full name
- Put your Email Address
- Input Nickname/Screen name and an Alternative, if you want to.


3)  Then you will have to input the correct IRC Server below:


- Click the Orange Flower Button. It opens up the Server selection Drop Down menu.
~I don't think Rizon.net is amongst that list.



So, you'll have to ADD in a new Server.
- Click "ADD"

-Type in  a Description of the Server you want to join. It's just a name you'll recognize it by. It can be anything.
- Enter the Server's Name: Irc.rizon.net
- Ports are always the same, so you can leave it.
- Select "Add" to add the new server to your server list.

- When that's done, click  "Connect to IRC Server"


Once connected to the server, the Favorite Channels Window should pop up.

-  If not, select the Favorites Icon.


- Click Add"
- Enter a Channel Name: #Seidou.org
- Enter a Description name. So you'll recognize it on your list.
- Select the Options check box, so that you will automatically join this channel once connected to the Server.

- Add and Join.

It automatically logs you onto rizon.net's server.

You just need to go to the right channel
To Join...
- Type: /j #seidou.org and it will take you to our Chatroom.

You can also use Nickserv here to either identify, or register your IRC Nickname.

NickServ : Registering your Screen Name on MIRC

In each IRC Server, you have to register your Screen Name.
That is because someone might already be using it, or to prevent others from using the Same NickName. Thus, kicking you out of rooms that require registered users.

MIRC's NickServ Allows to do just that.
When you register your "nickname". It is yours to keep.
It will Expire if it's not used for 30 days. It will then, be available to the public.


NickServ Help

For Help...
- Type in:  /msg NickServ Help

To change your nickname:
- Type in:  /nick <Your Nickname>


Registration:

To Register...
- you have to be logged onto the Server with the name you want to register under.
        Which you have already inputted when you first installed it.  See the MIRC tutorial for more Information


Note: You can change your nickname manually in the Options PopUp Menu.  Or by typing the command to change your name, shown above.



Anyways...

- Type in: /msg NickServ REGISTER  <insert your password>  <your email address>


They will then send you an email with an authentication code to your email.
It should look something like this:

The authentication code for your nickname<Gyro> is: 202897534
Please submit this code to NickServ with the command: /msg NickServ AUTH 202897534

So then...
- Copy and Paste the command they emailed you, onto mIRC.

That will complete your Registration.

Identification:

To Identify your NickName so that NickServ Recognizes you...
- Type: /msg NickServ IDENTIFY <your password>

To avoid having to Identify your nickname everytime you log on, you can activate the Perform Option.

-Click the Second Icon to the left. The Options Icon.






- Choose the Perform Button

- Activate the Checkbox so that it performs once you connect to the IRC Server.

- Then just type in the command that you want.

In this case, you'd want to input the The Identification Command:
- Type into the Perform Commands Text Box: /msg NickServ IDENTIFY <your password>

Then Click "OK" to save

And so, you'll automatically Identify your NickName once you log onto the server.
